Guidelines for Artwork Submission:
- The artwork shall not contain profanity, nudity, inappropriate imagery or symbols, or offensive language.
- The artwork shall not be "graffiti" in nature, where the work displays negative symbolism, or controversial political statements and messages. Graffiti artwork can be creative and expressive, and considered "qualified artwork", provided it is done tastefully.
- Artwork submitted may be a collaborative effort of more than one individual.
- The submitted piece of artwork may be a painted work of art in the medium of the student’s choice, or digital composition.
- Do NOT submit any artwork that has been copied, replicated, or manipulated from published photographs, magazines, book illustrations, or other artwork, including the Internet. If a photo is used, the original photo must be reviewed by the student’s teacher and approved to authenticate originality.
- If there is any doubt as to the originality of a piece, the teacher should not submit it. The integrity of the teacher and student in submitting only original artwork is expected and appreciated.
Guidelines for Judging:
- Creativity: Artwork demonstrates original thinking and expressive, artistic perceptions.
- Composition: Artwork demonstrates a unique and sensitive way to capture the subject matter. It illustrates the artists understanding of and ability to interpret the elements of art and the principles of design. It makes a unique statement.
- Technique: The artwork demonstrates artists competency in using the medium to achieve the desired outcome.
Additional Information:
- The artwork selected will be one-sided, and placed on the back part of the bus bench for public view at selected areas on Riverside Blvd. and Forest Hills Road. The area is roughly 7 feet wide and 2 feet 6 inches in height. All selected pieces of artwork will be digitally printed on Cloraplastic and inserted into the back of the bench, which will be covered by a clear ultraviolet cover for protection.
